Perhaps your programmers could get ahold of these "third party programs" and decypher key " actions,etc.. that would indoubtly run with gw " and creat a patch for it or yet .. a program that you all could run on gw servers every 15-30 minutes .. just a wide spread sweep .. and pick up on these "bot user's...." . and simply ban them .. i know diablo use's a program called rust storm that detects *bots third party programs* and it simple reports the name to the only admin at the time and it gets delt with .. perhaps you all could implement somthing like that into this game ^_^... and sorry to say leeching will be a tough one to deal with .. just and idea tho ^_^
ANet just needs to do something. Hell just lie and say they banned a bunch of people for botting and people will think twice before doing it.

Some of them nothing can be done about unless you do add some sort of a verification. This is because the script is in no way controlled by GW or the GW servers and is a running process on the computer. In the case of Aspenwood or other PvP, perhaps a kick system with majority rules. In other places it would have to be a verification code. However, in the case of a 4 digit code, a script could probably be easily written to loop numbers until it matches the verification code. Such protection vs. people would take alot of planning and "what if they do this", "what if they do that" type thinking in order to extinguish current botting and future botting as well.

One farmer explained she was constantly deleting and making new characters to deliver the gold to buyers and she said this was a waterproof method. Some companies had 30 pc's constantly running. They're everywhere in the world, USA, Europe, Canada, etc. The employees looked like enjoying their job and had everything they wanted in the office and earned a good salary. The story of the poor Chinese sweatshop farmer abused by his boss is defenitely out of date.

I now understand this goes way beyond Anet's control at this point, same goes for Blizzard, that's why bots are all around us. And people are making big money out of it.
Then you know why NC-Soft would never allowe A-Net to REALLY do something about the bot's, Bot's are BIG Bussines for NC-Soft, perhaps even more than the regular players are.

A number of things they could do

1. Make Signposts unclickable (See Granite Citadel)
2. Hang out in problematic areas and run tests by whispering the offenders.....

etc etc

Is there some substantial experience gain that allows them to level up that I don't know about?
well , before i stopped to play snowball because i got "pro Skillz" there was a afk or a leecher ever 3-4 team i joined. and someone who didnt load each 2-3 team.

considering even with that leecher most of player still keep on playing.

as far i can tell there are a fair probability ,if you leech , you will face a team with 1 player who didnt load the game or with another leecher making possible to gain Gamer point.

btw , bot dont mean gold selling company some of bot are actually player who mhh leech.

As soon as I log on today and try a snow arena game, I get in a team of new people that loses to a team with one 24/7 botter and one 24/7 leecher. Words can't describe how discouraging this is to me. I've spent a lot of my vaccation working on a title that most people are just afking for. I've uninstalled GW and I'm never looking back.

I'm almost doing that aswell. It may be hard to get rid of bots, but it IS possible, that is, if there are really intentions from the developers to get rid of them.

I wouldn't mind typing a few letters and numbers every time I enter a mission as long as that is effective against bots and would give me a very higher probability to have a 4v4 fight instead of a 4v3, etc. How to prevent brute forcing these verification codes? Add a maximum number of attempts client-side and a temporary 30 second "ban" from the player to enter mission again.

What I'm trying to say that it may be hard to prevent botting, but it is possible if there is enough time spent to develop the methods. I'm pretty sure we have reached the point in which it is needed to dedicate development time to create these methods.

Ok this leeching is just getting silly now, here is a screenshot of 5 mins ago. Two AFK bots, from the same guild (Names removed).

The red arrows show the direction they were both attacking in, this is all the did the whole game!

Not sure what is more silly, the fact there is two of them, or the fact they are both attacking each other lol... maybe that is intended of course.

Botting is clearly not even random, there are whole Guilds at it as the screenshot shows... why isn't this being stopped?

If anything I'm not happy being on a team with a bot which is doing nothing but leeching of me and everyone elses hardwork.

RTSFirebat,

[ugly] is absolutely one of the worst offenders of botting in snow arenas. I have seen many members of their guild all using what appears to be the same bot. The screenshot of two of their members trying to attack eachother through a wall is priceless.. although it goes to show how clueless (or uncaring?) Anet is and why I've given up.

I have an idea - scan for memory intrusions!

Oh, wait, if you were to do that youd create an environment where all the bots (worth using) could not be used, and then you wouldnt be able to ban some every time you needed to sell a few extra units on the rebound.

Im not downplaying the importance of getting paid (as much as possible) for your work, but its kinda bass-ackwards to say 'oh yeah we are working on that bot problem *giggle*' while you have yet to do the single most important thing to stopping bots.

Please, scan for memory intrustions. If you really need the extra income, just sell gold / new skins / hero unlock packs (say for non-NF accounts) / whatever in the store (people will buy them). Duplicitious company policies really rub me the wrong way...

Why does anet do nothing about snow arena bots?
I'm sure a few people may not like my answer but i bet it's atleast partially true. Since most companies are the same i'm willing to bet part of the reason why they've let botters, leachers, afkers, etc run rampant for so very long, in anything even remotely RA based, is cause they dont overly care. I mean, they already got our money, why should they care if we're enjoying the product and ALL of its features? a great example was their "effort" for this current event game(and this threads title), which was taking out the eggnog on loss, that *really* stopped them didnt it? If stuff like that is the best they're ever going to do to "try" stop all the leaching/botting/etc in, not only event games, but also things such as ab or aspenwood, then we'll never see an end to it.

I've seen the the most popular abusers still botting this morning. One of the fighting bots even displayed its Uber Micro title. Most of the do-nothing leech bots displayed their numchuck+ titles.

I've very disappointed in Anet for doing absolutely nothing about this problem.
